Valerie Anne Bertinelli (born April 14th in 1970) was an American writer and actress. The two-time Golden Globe Award winning star became a household name through her appearances as Barbara on the CBS show One Day at a Time as well as Melanie Moretti on Hot in Cleveland. When she was a teenager she started acting, and has since developed to become a seasoned character actor. Infusing her with an interest in the world of entertainment, the Bertinelli decided to pursue acting following an old-fashioned friendship that she formed as being a kid. Bertinelli began her career in television in the adolescent years after she graduated from the Tami Lynn School of Artists. As a result of her impressive acting skills and confidence, Bertinelli quickly made her mark in the TV business. Apart from her challenging personal history and struggle with alcohol and drugs, she also worked to recover her life. Her New York Times bestsellers, where she narrates her difficult life experiences and struggles are well known for the public at large. Presently, the multitalented star is hosting the cooking show Kids Baking Championship. The slim teen who became a sexual icon has also been associated with the Jenny Craig program.
