Valerie Anne Bertinelli (born April 14 1969) was an American actress and writer. The two-time Golden Globe Award winning star became a household name by playing Barbara on the show on CBS called One Day at a Time and Melanie Moretti on Hot in Cleveland. In her teens she started acting, and has evolved over time into an experienced character actress. As a young girl, she formed a friendship with the daughter of one of TV producers. The connection led to her desire to work in the entertainment field which led her to make the decision to pursue a career as an actor. After completing her studies at the Tami Lynn School of Artists Bertinelli made her first foray into television as a teenager. She quickly became popular for her professionalism, charisma and a confident demeanor. In addition, she's known for her emotional and personal turmoil, and struggles with addiction. However, she's been able to achieve her life back, and eventually become a highly successful and respected person. She is well-known to the public for the publication of her New York Times best-selling books in which she shared her challenges during tough moments of her life. In the present, this talented and multifaceted personality is busy hosting her cooking show Kids Baking Championship.
