While we are navigating through the summer months of 2021, there's a constant feeling of uncertainty about how our service to society will be able to include the significant human connection experienced by Rotary members in previous times. The principle of "hands are in front of each other" will be an important element of our routine It's evident that there is a growing confidence and a need to be face-to-face with people. Rotary's changed. It is not without a degree of uncertainty moving to the summer of 2021. It remains to be seen if the human connections that Rotary members valued in the past will continue. While the traditional 'hands in faces will certainly be part of our ongoing routine it is apparent that confidence is building and connections between face-to-face are happening. However, Rotary has changed. Rotary's networks create bonds which last. The Pandemic was our catalyst to take on technology. To ensure that we can continue to hold the business meetings we hold online we've brought back service and social gatherings in a face-to-face setting. We have taken the new opportunities, and have combined these with our habits for preventing pandemics to provide an exciting new direction for Rotary! It's an encouraging thing to hear that 75 percent of Rotary clubs intend to keep their "business regular" activities. During the summer, many Rotary club members have been seen with their families and friends, working on various projects including river and beach cleanings and litter pick-ups. This is the reason I was so happy to have the chance to become a member of Rotary when I joined in the year 2002.
